Small instruction folders that teach Claude to do one founder job properly. Every repo on this page was opened, read and checked before it made the list.
Claude Skills are folders of instructions that teach Claude how to do one job well: review a contract, write a cold email, build a pitch deck. You install one once, and Claude picks it up whenever that job comes around.
This directory lists 50 of them, picked for founders rather than developers. We opened every repo, read every SKILL.md, and dropped the stubs, the dead projects and anything that needs a paid API key before it does something useful. What survived is below.
Everyday Documents
Anthropic’s own document skills. The boring, load-bearing stuff: Word, Excel, PDF, and a better way to co-write anything that matters.
docx
Real Word files: proposals, SOPs, letters
Anthropic’s own Word skill. Claude creates and edits .docx files directly, with headings, tables of contents and tracked changes intact. If clients receive documents from you, this replaces an hour of formatting a week.
xlsx
Budgets, models and trackers in actual Excel
Budgets, financial models, CSV cleanups and trackers, handled inside real Excel files with working formulas. Sheets open looking finished instead of exported. The closest thing to a spreadsheet person on staff.
Merge, split, fill, OCR and extract
Merge, split, watermark, fill forms, pull tables out, OCR scanned pages. Most founder paperwork ends its life as a PDF, and this covers nearly everything short of signing it.
doc-coauthoring
A workflow for writing docs that land
A structured way to write documents with Claude instead of just asking for a draft. It gathers context first, iterates, then checks whether a reader can actually follow the result. Built for one-pagers, memos and anything an investor will read.
Pitching & Fundraising
One skill makes the file, one makes the argument, one turns the deck into an animated web page. Deck season, covered.
pptx
Builds and edits real slide decks
The engine behind Claude’s deck building. Creates and edits .pptx files directly: slides, layouts, speaker notes. Pair it with a deck framework and you go from outline to a file that opens in PowerPoint.
pitch-deck-mastery
The 12-slide investor deck, slide by slide
A 12-slide investor deck framework with slide-by-slide guidance and a review checklist, pre-seed through Series B. The repo is brand new with zero stars, so you are early. The content held up when we read it, which is why it is listed anyway.
frontend-slides
Pitch decks as animated web pages
Turns your raw pitch content into an animated HTML deck with a dozen visual styles to choose from, and it imports existing PowerPoints. Nearly twenty thousand stars say founders without designers needed exactly this.
Brand & Naming
What to call it and how it should look. Two jobs founders pay for long before they need to.
naming
Names that mean something, not thesaurus output
A metaphor-driven naming workflow: brief, metaphor territories, 30 to 50 candidates, filters, availability checks. Ships reference files on sound symbolism and naming anti-patterns. Use it before you fall in love with a bad name.
claude-design
An in-house designer for HTML deliverables
Adapted from Claude’s own internal design system prompt. Produces landing pages, decks, prototypes and posters in clean HTML, and asks direction questions when your brief is vague. The nearest thing to a designer on retainer for free.
Writing & Content
Copy that does not read like a template. Your site, your socials, your press and your team updates.
copywriting
Landing page and homepage copy with positioning logic
Corey Haines’ copywriting playbook as a skill. Homepage, landing pages, ads and CTAs rewritten with positioning logic instead of adjectives. One of the most-starred marketing skills on GitHub, and it earns it.
humanizer
Makes AI drafts read like a person wrote them
Strips the tells of AI writing out of any draft: em dash overuse, inflated significance, rule-of-three padding, the whole vocabulary. Built on Wikipedia’s Signs of AI writing guide. Run everything Claude writes through it before the words go out under your name.
post-writer
Platform-native social posts, not cross-posts
Writes posts shaped for how each feed works: LinkedIn, X, Instagram, TikTok and more. Publishing straight to platforms needs the vendor’s paid connection, but the writing itself runs on nothing.
internal-comms
Status updates and FAQs in consistent formats
Anthropic’s template pack for status reports, leadership updates, FAQs and incident notes. A small skill with a boring job: it removes the blank-page tax from every Monday update.
twitter-algorithm-optimizer
Tweets rewritten for how X actually ranks
Scores and rewrites your posts against the ranking signals in Twitter’s open-sourced recommendation code. Less guessing about why a post died, more knowing which signal it tripped.
press-release-writer
Newswire-ready releases from a briefing note
Give it a short briefing and it returns a press release in proper inverted-pyramid form with AP wire conventions. For launches and funding announcements you would rather not pay an agency to format.
Marketing & SEO
Research first, audit second, then the channel work: email, local search and your competitors’ ad libraries.
claude-seo
A full-site SEO audit with a health score
A full-site SEO audit run by specialist subagents. Crawls up to 500 pages, checks technical issues, schema and content, then hands you a health score. Google API keys are optional and it works fine without them.
marketing-research
Competitor maps, avatars and positioning
Competitor mapping, customer avatars, market awareness stages and positioning, run as a structured research system instead of a brainstorm. Use it before you write a single line of copy.
email-marketing-bible
A 68,000-word email marketing reference
A 68,000-word email marketing reference in one skill: flows, deliverability, benchmarks, platform choice. With this loaded, Claude’s email advice stops being generic and starts citing numbers.
marketing-ideas
139 proven tactics for the what-next moments
A categorized playbook of 139 marketing tactics with implementation notes. When growth stalls and you are out of ideas, this is the brainstorm partner that has already done the reading.
local-seo-optimizer
Gets a local business found on Google
Audits your Google Business Profile, checks name-address-phone consistency across directories and tunes location pages for the local pack. For any founder whose customers search ‘near me’.
competitive-ads-extractor
Reads your competitors’ ad libraries
Pulls competitors’ live ads from public ad libraries and breaks down the messaging, offers and creative angles that keep running. Running ads without doing this first means paying to learn what they already know.
Sales & Outreach
Finding people, learning about them, writing the message, closing the deal. The full outbound chain.
cold-email
Cold emails built for replies, not opens
B2B cold emails and follow-up sequences from the same playbook as the copywriting skill. Short, specific and built around getting a reply, not an open.
prospecting
ICPs, tiering, cadences and outreach
ICP definition, account tiering, buying signals, cadence design and LinkedIn outreach, written by a three-time founder. Dense and opinionated in the way sales advice should be.
lead-research
Know the company before you write to it
Researches the company and the person before you reach out, so your first line is not a guess. Feed it a name, get context worth referencing.
icp-builder
Defines who you actually sell to
Structured frameworks for ideal customer profiles and buyer personas, built from your customer knowledge plus web research. Everything downstream, from cold email to pricing, gets sharper once this exists.
proposal-writer
Proposals that win deals
Turns a brief into a persuasive business proposal for deals and partnerships. Useful the day a bigger company says ‘send us something’ and you have four hours.
competitive-intelligence
Competitor battlecards you can click
Researches your competitors and builds an interactive HTML battlecard with a comparison matrix. Made for the sales calls where ‘how are you different from X’ decides the deal.
Finance & Admin
Invoices, receipts, metrics and runway. Skills that delete the admin afternoon and tell you the truth about cash.
invoice-generator
Clean invoices with tax and currency handling
Clean, professional invoices with currency and tax handling. If you still build yours by hand every month, this earns back its install time on the first one.
invoice-organizer
Messy receipts in, tax-ready folders out
Point it at a messy folder of receipts and invoices. It reads them, renames them consistently and files them ready for tax season. Your accountant will notice.
saas-metrics
MRR, churn and LTV:CAC, investor-ready
Calculates and explains the core SaaS numbers: MRR waterfalls, ARR, churn, cohorts, LTV to CAC. Works from figures you paste in and outputs reporting an investor will recognize.
cash-flow-forecaster
Know the week the money runs out
Builds a 13-week rolling cash flow forecast from bank exports, AR aging and payroll, then flags the crunch weeks early enough to act. The most bootstrapper skill on this page.
startup-bookkeeper
Bookkeeping in plain English
Log expenses, income and invoices conversationally and get P and L reports plus a dashboard. Knows its limits: it refuses tax advice and tells you to see a CPA. No QuickBooks subscription involved.
Legal & Contracts
Contract review at two depths, drafting, lease decoding and negotiation prep. None of it is a lawyer. All of it beats skimming.
claude-legal-skill
Deep contract review with redlines
Contract review built on the CUAD legal dataset: 41 risk categories, market-standard comparisons and suggested redlines for NDAs, SaaS terms and bigger documents. It says plainly that it is not a lawyer. It still catches what tired founders skim past.
contract-review
A quick clause-by-clause sanity read
A lighter clause-by-clause pass: risks, missing terms, plain recommendations. A good first read before any vendor or employment contract gets near a signature.
contract-and-proposal-writer
Contracts and SOWs, jurisdiction-aware
Generates contracts, proposals, SOWs, NDAs and MSAs with clauses adjusted for US, EU, UK and DACH, including GDPR-compliant data processing agreements. Free to use; the license only bars reselling the skill itself.
commercial-lease-analyzer
Decodes a lease before you sign it
Reads a commercial lease and totals the true all-in cost: base rent, NNN, CAM, escalations. Then it lists the clauses that hurt small tenants and the asks landlords routinely grant. Not legal advice, and says so.
tech-contract-negotiation
Playbooks for negotiating tech contracts
Negotiation frameworks for technology services, B2B and professional services agreements. Read it before the redline call, not after.
Team, Ops & Customers
Hiring, SOPs, support replies, reviews and churn. Running the business, not just building the product.
job-description-writer
Job posts that read like your company
Writes clear, inclusive job descriptions with salary transparency built in. Useful from your first hire, when every posting is also marketing.
hiring-helper
Screens candidates past the resume
Screens candidates against a framework that looks for what resumes hide: agency, judgment, real output. Built by an operator for their own hiring, then published.
sop-creator
Turns repeatable work into real SOPs
Turns any repeatable process into a proper SOP with steps, owners and edge cases. The unglamorous skill that makes delegation possible.
email-customer
Firm, kind replies to hard customer emails
Drafts polite-but-firm replies to refund requests, scope creep and complaints. Written for solo founders who are also the entire support team.
meeting-insights-analyzer
What your meetings say about you
Feed it meeting transcripts and it tells you what you did in the room: filler words, conflict you dodged, who you talked over. Uncomfortable and useful in equal measure.
review-response-writer
Replies to reviews in your voice
Drafts owner-voice responses to Google and Yelp reviews: gracious on the five-stars, careful on the one-stars. It also knows what to do with fake reviews and ones that mention legal issues.
churn-analysis
Finds who is about to leave, and why
Analyzes churn patterns in your customer data, flags at-risk accounts and builds retention playbooks with early-warning signals. Works from whatever CSV you can export.
Strategy & Planning
Frameworks for the thinking work: plans, canvases, pricing arguments, consulting-grade analysis and one tool that forces decisions.
strategic-planning
OKRs, SWOT and planning frameworks
OKRs, SWOT, vision docs and multi-year planning frameworks in one place. Reach for it quarterly, not daily.
go-to-market-plan
Three GTM strategies fitted to your stage
Asks up to ten diagnostic questions about your product, stage and market, then hands you three tailored go-to-market strategies. More consultant-shaped than most skills here.
pricing
Tiers, packaging and what to charge
Pricing tiers, packaging, value metrics and willingness-to-pay methods. Most founders underprice. This one argues with you about it.
ship-decision
Forces the call when you’re stuck
When you are stuck between two or three options, it forces a fast, regret-minimizing call: cost, reversal cost, signal. For anyone who loses days to coin-flip decisions.
management-consultant
MBB thinking without the invoice
Structured problem solving in the McKinsey mold: MECE issue trees, market sizing, profitability and market-entry analysis, executive-ready memos, backed by 129 reference modules. For decisions too big to wing.
foundation-lean-canvas
The lean canvas, done properly
Walks the nine blocks: problem, customer, value proposition, channels, revenue, costs, metrics and unfair advantage, then renders the canvas visually. Still the fastest way to find the hole in a business idea.
Questions Founders Ask About Skills
Everything else you might want to know before you install one.
A skill is a folder of instructions that teaches Claude how to do one specific job: review a contract, write a cold email, build a spreadsheet. Claude reads it when the job comes up and follows it like a playbook. No app, no separate tool, just a folder.
One required file called SKILL.md, which holds a name, a short description and the instructions in plain markdown. Bigger skills add reference documents, templates or small scripts alongside it. If you can read a text file, you can read a skill before you trust it.
In Claude.ai on the web and desktop, in Claude Code, through the API, and inside Claude’s Word, Excel and PowerPoint add-ins. On Claude.ai they are available on every plan, including free, once you switch on code execution in settings.
No. Most skills on this page are plain instructions with no code at all. If a skill bundles scripts, Claude runs them for you. You never touch a terminal unless you use Claude Code by choice.
Copy the skill folder into .claude/skills/ inside your project, or into ~/.claude/skills/ in your home directory to have it available everywhere. Claude Code picks it up automatically, no install command needed. From then on you can also run it directly by typing /skill-name.
Turn on code execution under Settings, Capabilities, then go to Customize, Skills and upload the skill as a zip. One catch that trips people up: zip the skill folder itself, so SKILL.md sits at the root of the archive, not buried inside another folder.
Every skill carries a one-paragraph description, and that is all Claude keeps in mind day to day. When your request matches a description, Claude opens the full skill and follows it. Write ‘review this vendor contract’ and the contract skill wakes up on its own.
In Claude Code, yes: type a slash plus the skill name, like /copywriting. On Claude.ai skills trigger from what you ask rather than from a command, so the practical trick is to name the job clearly. The Microsoft add-ins support the slash menu too.
There is no separate fee anywhere. A skill sitting idle costs about a hundred tokens for its description, and the full instructions only load when the skill actually runs. Supporting files cost nothing until Claude opens them. The format was designed to be cheap to carry.
Treat a skill like software, because it is. A skill can include instructions and code, and a malicious one could misuse the access you give Claude. Anthropic’s own advice is to stick to trusted sources and review before enabling. Every repo on this page was opened and checked by hand, but read the SKILL.md yourself anyway. It takes two minutes.
Skills teach Claude how to do something. Projects hold what Claude should know about your business. MCP connects Claude to where your data lives, like your CRM or your inbox. They stack well: a sales skill works better inside a project that knows your product, connected to your actual pipeline.
Yes, and it might be the highest-leverage hour of your week. A basic skill is a markdown file with a name, a description and your instructions. Anthropic ships a skill-creator skill that interviews you and writes the file, and on Mac, Claude can watch you do a task once and draft the skill from the recording.
The format is an open standard, and other tools have adopted it: OpenAI Codex, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Gemini CLI and a few dozen more read the same SKILL.md folders. A skill you pick up today is not locked to one vendor.
The list stays curated. When a repo dies or a better skill ships, entries change. If one of these saves you an afternoon, that was the point.
